London is super big and can be quite hectic, making a lot of people feel “disconnected” and isolated…Like other major cities, London is divided into smaller divisions called Boroughs, Brent is one of the most diverse boroughs in London.
Isolation is such an important matter in England that we even have an MP (Member of Parliament) for Isolation. There are over 9 millions Britons that have been identified as suffering from social isolation.
As YWAM, God opened an amazing door and we are now involved in an initiative called ‘Together in Brent’ – Beating Loneliness. We are running the media campaign for this project, which involves over 10 charities seeking to raise awareness regarding social isolation, whilst promoting local activities and services, that go from clubs, community meals, counseling, befriending, etc. This all coincides with national campaigns such as the Jo Cox Great Get Together, on June 22nd.
We pray against loneliness and God’s connections; we go “story hunting” the streets. We collect stories of people who have experienced social isolation, overcame loneliness or are working with those in difficult situations. the stories collected will be displayed in an Arts Exhibition called “Peeking through Windows” at the Yellow Pavilion in Wembley on the 21st of June 2018.
